Updated 10/30/2011
Beginning on Sunday, October 30, 2011 the riverboat will be closed for the season. All cruises will be suspended until spring. Pending the river and mother nature, we expect to be reopened in early April of 2012.
The Yacht Club facility is still available for private parties and rentals throughout the winter months. Please go to our contacts page for reservations or to request more information.
Unfortunately, during Nebraska winters, mother nature prevents the River City Star riverboat from cruising.
In addition to the river icing over, and dangerous mini icebergs, there is a significant reduction in water levels during the winter months.
Reduced water levels lead to a greater likelyhood that areas of the river will have insufficient water depth for the pasage of our vessel. This can lead to the entire vessel becoming stuck, or in a worst case scenario, a ruptured hull.
Even with the coming of the spring and the river's ice melt, we must still wait for river water levels to increase to acceptable cruising depths. This varies by the year, but always comes from snow melt upriver in the Rocky Mountains.
We'll keep this website updated with the most current information we have.
